Dog show seeks sponsors

One of Wiltshire´s largest dog shows is seeking corporate sponsorship after losing its main sponsor.

The Bowood Charity Dog Show and Summer Fair is held annually at the country estate near Calne.

In four years the Show has raised over £95,000 for local charities and this year it hopes to exceed £120,000.

In January the show lost its main corporate sponsor and organisers have found it very difficult to replace their donation.

The organisers are now offering sponsorship packages to ensure that show goes on. £30 will sponsor class rosettes, £50 will sponsor a charity stand, £300 will sponsor a dog class and £1,000 will sponsor entertainment in the show ring.

Charities that have benefited from the dog show were quick to support the appeal for sponsors.

Liddy Davidson, Age Concern said: "The generosity of Wiltshire companies will make a real difference to our work with older people in Wiltshire and, at a time when our help is needed more than ever, we are struggling to find sufficient resources."

Jennie Shaw, The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust said: "Thanks to the generosity of Lord and Lady Lansdowne and the show visitors, The Bowood Charity Dog Show and Summer Fair donated £6,000 to the Trust.

"This money keeps a van on the road for nearly three weeks. In that time we will secure up to 40 homes most of them elderly victims of crime. Our work changes the lives of the elderly and vulnerable for the better".

Tracey Lee, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support said: "The Bowood Dog Show has raised over £45,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in the last four years. This money has provided vital practical, financial and emotional help to people living with cancer."
