Stockbroker Stephen Depla has stepped up for a charity raising money to build schools for African children in leprosy communities.

The Marlborough Chamber of Commerce committee member is taking part in the Malmesbury Triathlon on August 29.

The triathlon involved a 400m swim, 22km bike ride and five kilometer run, with no breaks in between.

Stephen, who heads Brewin Dolphin´s Marlborough office, said: "Some friends and I are taking part again in a sprint triathlon on 29 August over in Malmesbury, Wiltshire to raise money for the Sisters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul.

"Their aim is to open and run a primary school for the children for two leprosy communities and others in the Jimma area of Ethiopia.

"Ethiopia is bordered by countries such as Somalia, Eritrea and Kenya all of which have a coastline but Ethiopia is land-locked and very poor.

"We want to raise money to help buy the books, desks and other important items for the newly built school. We all take such things for granted and they have very little."

Last year, Stephen (pictured) completed the course in 1hr 40mins. He can be sponsored at http://www.justgiving.com/Tri4Ethiopia
