Parliamentary candidate Claire Perry discussed proposed changes in legislation when she visited a leading Wiltshire law firm at Marlborough Business Park.
Ms Perry, who is the Conservatives’ prospective parliamentary candidate for the Devizes constituency, which includes Marlborough, met lawyers at Awdry Bailey & Douglas.
During her first visit to a law firm since being selected as the Tories’ candidate in November, Claire discussed current and forthcoming legislation, and changes to the law which her party had promised, including a review of Home Information Packs.
She spent 90 minutes in the company of partners Tony Awdry, Alistair Everett and Andrew Douglas at the company’s Marlborough Business Park offices.
Among the topics of conversation was the proposed new Tesco store which is due to be located on the business park and the future of Home Information Packs, introduced by the Labour government in 2007 to speed up the conveyancing process and improve the energy efficiency of homes.
In 2007 Awdry Bailey & Douglas won the Law Society’s prestigious Innovation in Business Award for its Home Information Packs. The Conservatives have pledged to review the scheme should they win the general election.
They also discussed Lord Justice Jackson’s review into ‘no win no fee’ litigation funding.
Following the meeting, Claire Perry said: “I was delighted to meet the Partners at Awdry Bailey & Douglas last week and to listen to their views on what is required to get local businesses growing again.”
