Shoppers love friendly Bassett

The friendly, community atmosphere is one aspect of shopping in Wootton Bassett which people like the most, say the results from a recent High Street survey carried out by Wootton Bassett Chamber of Commerce.

With over 100 responses, one lucky participant, Joy Moseley, has received a voucher for Christmas lunch for four people at The Wiltshire Golf & Country Club after her completed survey was picked as the winner in a prize draw.

Members of the Chamber committee spent two mornings in the High Street asking shoppers to complete the questionnaire, with other responses collected via an online survey.

The results showed that 76 percent of respondents keen to see more local produce available in the High Street and 53 percent were in favour of a High Street discount scheme.

Winner of the prize draw, Joy Moseley, works in Wootton Bassett Post Office, in the High Street. She said: “It’s lovely to have won the Christmas lunch prize. I really enjoy both working and doing my day-to-day shopping in the town.”

Roz Paton from the Chamber of Commerce said: “Wootton Bassett High Street has so much to offer shoppers, but we recognise that it is not easy for businesses, particularly retailers, in today’s economic climate. That’s why we decided on this fact-finding project.

"Hopefully, the information will help businesses with their future planning and activities.”

A full report from the survey will be available to all Chamber members.
